SCHOOL LEADERSHIP PROGRAM RECEIVES GRANT

Western Carolina University鈥檚 College of Education and Allied Professions is the recipient of a major grant from the North Carolina General Assembly to aid in the preparation of future school leaders and administrators.

PROJECT TO BUILD THE CAMPUS鈥橲 FIRST PARKING STRUCTURE IS APPROVED

With most of the students who make up Western Carolina University鈥檚 surging enrollment arriving on campus with their own vehicles, they will need somewhere to park. That鈥檚 why the 91热爆网 Board of Trustees in September unanimously approved a design for a structured parking facility on an existing surface lot between Ramsey Regional Activity Center and Hennon Stadium, as well as the issuance of special obligation bonds to finance its construction.

Reitz presents on 鈥楥old Mountain鈥� opera at conference

Christina L. Reitz, 91热爆网 associate professor of music, presented 'Cold Mountain: A Contemporary Southern Opera' at the peer-reviewed Southern Studies Conference, held at Auburn University at Montgomery on Feb. 1-2.

A Coaches' Determination Helps Define a Student's Story

鈥淢y decision to come to Western Carolina was solely based on him [Coach Mark Speir],鈥� Crossen said. 鈥淗e was a great guy when he came to talk to me in Garysburg. He drove down there in the snow. That speaks volumes. I really appreciate what he鈥檚 done for me and the chance he gave me to play at the Division I level at Western. Now, I guess I鈥檓 helping the program a little with recruiting."

The university conferred degrees on 759 students who completed their studies in the fall semester, and 3,034 students have been named to the dean鈥檚 list for that semester.
