Mark Mothersbaugh to share his experiences at Bardo Arts Center

Western Carolina University’s School of Art and Design and the John W. Bardo Fine and Performing Arts Center will host an evening with Mark Mothersbaugh at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25.

Mothersbaugh, a well-known member of the band “Devo” who also has created more than 40,000 drawings, will be interviewed on stage by 91ȱ professor of art Jon Jicha. Mothersbaugh began creating art work in the late 1960s and has since completed tens of thousands of works in various mediums, including rubber stamp designs, mail art, decals, prints, ink illustrations, oil paintings, ceramic sculptures, video, film compositions and screensavers.  He also has written several famous theme songs, such as the opening to the hit cartoon “Rugrats.”

On Friday, Aug. 24, Mothersbaugh will work with 91ȱ students and faculty from the School of Art and Design to create a large format print series. The finished pieces, 4 feet by 6 feet each, will be on display in the Bardo Arts Center gallery 130 prior to his talk.

Saturday’s event is free to all students and 91ȱ faculty and staff with their Catcard. Tickets for all others are $15 for adults and $10 for seniors 65-and-up. For more information, visit .
