Honorary doctorate recipient, longtime benefactor Robert Failing dies at age 89

Dr. Robert M. 鈥淏ob鈥 Failing, an alumnus and longtime benefactor of 91热爆网 who received an honorary doctorate from the institution in 2007, died Saturday, Sept. 1, at the age of 89.

While vacationing at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, this summer, Carol Barnao came across a TNT promotion for a T-shirt design contest for the network鈥檚 popular crime drama 鈥淎nimal Kingdom,鈥 which happens to be one of her favorite television shows.

For former Catamount standouts, persistence leads to NFL roster spots

When Keion Crossen and Detrez Newsome chose to come to Western Carolina University to play football, it wasn鈥檛 because they thought Cullowhee was going to be the fast track to the NFL. After all, the last time a Catamount was selected in the NFL draft was 1994.

Saltz Anderson endowed scholarship honors family of educators

They traded Western North Carolina for central Washington, where he farmed and she taught school. When it came time to settle their affairs and with no children of their own, Harold and Henrietta Saltz Anderson looked homeward, to North Carolina.
