Western Carolina University offers many programs leading to professional licensure or certification.  If you are considering a degree program which leads to professional licensure or certification, it鈥檚 important for you to understand if the program meets the requirements in the state you are planning to reside and work.  More information on Professional Licensure or Certification

Changing or declaring a MINOR or CONCENTRATION within your major does not require an appointment. Stop by the Advising Center on weekdays from 10 AM to 4 PM to meet with the Walk-In Advisor who will submit your request.

An APPROVED PROGRAM is a specific set of courses approved by your major department to fulfill your degree requirements. Many major programs require a Second Major, a Minor, or an Approved Program.

  • Consult with your primary faculty advisor to determine the specific courses and credit hours required for an Approved Program
  • Courses taken in preparation for application to professional schools beyond a bachelor's degree (e.g. medical school, dental school, physical therapy school, etc.) are often packaged in an Approved Program - see Pre-Professional Programs Advising for details
