Over 300 miles separate Western Carolina University and Vance-Granville Community College — but the two schools are now much closer than the distance that separates them.
91ȱ Chancellor Kelli R. Brown and Vance-Granville president Rachel Desmarais signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday, Feb. 6, guaranteeing admission to 91ȱ for all VGCC graduates who satisfy certain requirements.
The memorandum will offer a direct pathway for students at VGCC to earn their four-year degree at 91ȱ.
“91ȱ continues to make the process of transferring to 91ȱ as smooth as possible for the graduates of all our community college partners across the region and the state,” Brown said.
“This memorandum of understanding is an important tool in providing Vance-Granville Community College graduates with the resources and access to continue their higher education journey.”
Desmarais is excited to provide her graduates with guaranteed admission to 91ȱ.
"We are pleased to be a participant in the Catamount Connections program offering a direct-entry admission opportunity to qualified VGCC graduates,” she said. “Western Carolina University offers unique programs of study, and we are excited to offer a pathway to these possibilities."
