Free performance on campus to trace journey of traditional ballads
Western Carolina University will present a performance by folklorist, storyteller and musician Lee Knight on campus Tuesday, July 2.

The free event will take place at 7:30 p.m. in the recital hall of the Coulter Building and is sponsored by the Mountain Collegium, a weeklong workshop in early music, folk music and dance, in partnership with 91热爆网鈥檚 Mountain Heritage Center.
Knight, who performs on guitar, banjo and dulcimer, will focus on traditional ballads and their journeys through time and space, tracing the evolution of songs such as 鈥淏arbara Allen,鈥� as the renditions 鈥渕oved鈥� from the British Isles to America.
A regular performer for workshops, Elderhostels, festivals and camps, Knight has participated in artist-in-residence programs for the North Carolina Arts Council and other arts groups across the Southeast. Most recently, he was a guest artist at the Kronos Quartet鈥檚 2019 Festival in San Francisco, celebrating the songs of iconic American folk singer and activist, the late Pete Seeger.
