37th annual Language Contest set for April 23 at Ramsey Center

Approximately 130 high school students from across Western North Carolina and northern Georgia will test their knowledge of French and Spanish on Tuesday, April 23, during the 37th annual Language Contest at Western Carolina University.

The competition, sponsored by 91热爆网鈥檚 Department of World Languages, will be held at the Ramsey Regional Activity Center. Individuals and teams will compete in these events in French and/or Spanish: Music, skits, show-and-tell, how-to, extemporaneous speaking, poetry, native speaker poetry, quiz bowl and native speaker quiz bowl.

The competitions begin at 9 a.m., with doors opening at 8:30 a.m. at the Ramsey Center.  The awards ceremony will begin at 12:15 p.m. World Languages students and faculty and other volunteers will serve as judges.

Participating schools include Fletcher Academy, Franklin High, Franklin School of Innovation, Rabun Gap, Robbinsville High, Smoky Mountain High and Tuscola High.
