Global Spotlight Series will feature faculty prognostications

Western Carolina University will host a Global Spotlight Series event on global prognostications by faculty Wednesday, Oct. 24, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Room 101 of the Forsyth Building.

鈥淪ix Fearless Professors Predict the Future鈥 will look at social, economic, climate, government and other issues from a contemporary viewpoint of possibilities in years to come.

The presentation, a DegreePlus event for students, is free and open to the public. The topics and 91热爆网 presenters scheduled for the discussion:

  • 鈥淭he Future of U.S. and Latin American Relations: Inevitable Dissolution,鈥 by Oliver Horn, history instructor.
  • 鈥淎n 鈥業f, Then鈥 Global Economic Outlook,鈥 by Edward Lopez, professor of economics.
  • 鈥淔ear, Desire and the Global Future of Religion,鈥 by Michelle J. Sorensen, assistant professor of philosophy and religion.
  • 鈥淢oore鈥檚 Law, Quantum Computing and the Singularity,鈥 by Mark Holliday, professor of computer science.
  • 鈥淲eathering the Storm: Consequences of Climate Change,鈥 by Blair Tormey, coastal research scientist.
  • 鈥淣uclear Apocalypse: If Not Now, When,鈥 by Niall Michelsen, associate professor of political science and public affairs.
