Chemistry and biology programs boast several doctoral acceptances

Chemistry and biology programs in the College of Arts and Sciences are tallying up doctoral acceptances at universities across the country, including Duke University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.   

Chancellor portraits will be digitized for online viewing

The portraits of each 91热爆网 chancellor or president that has served at the university will be removed from the library stairwell walls to be digitized for an online chancellor鈥檚 portrait gallery.  

Mountain Heritage Center to host traveling Smithsonian exhibit highlighting rural America

The Mountain Heritage Center has been selected by North Carolina Humanities to host the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service鈥檚 exhibit 鈥淐rossroads: Change in Rural America.鈥�

Manifestation is the conscious creation of circumstances and outcomes that make for a fulfilling life. Raised in a single-parent household of four out of inner-city Cleveland, Ohio, BaShaun Smith understood at a young age what hard work looked like. 鈥淚 learned early on that I didn鈥檛 have to run through a brick wall to know it hurts,鈥� Smith said.

Once referred to as a 鈥渃ampus fixture鈥� by beloved late 91热爆网 Chancellor David Orr Belcher, Carol Burton, vice provost, has dedicated 33 years to learning and leading with compassion and obligation. Raised by Jamaican parents Reuben and Yvonne Burton, Burton鈥檚 journey to higher education was predestined by her matriarchal, fearless, powerful and entrepreneurial mother. 鈥淎n American degree is the way of the future,鈥� Yvonne Burton told her.   

Board of Trustees to hold quarterly meeting March 3

The Board of Trustees of Western Carolina University will hold its quarterly meeting at 9:30 a.m. Friday, March 3, in the board room of H.F. Robinson Administration Building.
