Wireless Network Access

Faculty, Staff, and Students

91Èȱ¬Íø faculty, staff and students should connect to the eduroam wireless network for wireless service. This network uses enterprise security and encryption to keep your information private and secure. Connecting to this network will require some configuration. To configure your device:

  1. Connect to 91Èȱ¬Íø-Guest.
  2. After accepting the networking requirements, click full access or go to on the device you want to connect.
  3. Choose the recommended option* and enter your 91Èȱ¬Íøid username and password.
  4. Run the setup tool provided for your device.
  5. The tool should then configure your device and automatically connect you to the eduroam network.

*The recommended option installs a certificate on your device that will allow you to connect for up to 7 years. On Android devices, this requires you to have a passcode on your device. If you would rather not have a passcode, the alternate option will configure your device to connect. However, if you choose the alternate option, you must reconfigure your device every time you change the password for your 91Èȱ¬Íøid account.

Gaming & Streaming Devices

91Èȱ¬Íø is excited to offer a wireless network for clients to connect their gaming systems, streaming devices, and other devices that do not support WPA2 (username and password) authentication. Visit to register your device for the 91Èȱ¬Íø-Media network.

Note: This network is not designed for laptops or smartphones. These devices should use the recommended/alternate option to get connected to eduroam.

University Guests

University Guests have access to the 91Èȱ¬Íø-Guest network.  Guests will be able to connect to our network by reading and agreeing to the acceptable use policy.  This network is open to all users.

Manually configuring a device for eduroam

To connect to the eduroam network, devices must support WPA2-Enterprise encryption and 802.1x authentication. To configure your device manually, use the following parameters:

EAP Method: PEAP

Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2

CA Certificate: leave blank or select Unspecified

Identity: insert your 91Èȱ¬Íøid in the format: username@wcu.edu

Anonymous Identity: anonymous@wcu.edu

Password: your 91Èȱ¬Íøid Password

If the device asks you to confirm a security certificate, click accept.

Eduroam is a secure wireless network service that allows faculty, staff, and students to seamlessly access wireless when visiting other .  After the one-time setup, you can seamlessly connect for up to seven (7) years without having to update the wireless credentials on your device.
